COURSE STRUCTURE

This program is aimed at training candidates for the job of an “Solar & LED Technician”, in the “Electronics” Sector/Industry and aims at building the following key competencies amongst the learner.

Training Outcomes After completing this programme, the participants will be able to: • Identify the basic concepts of electricity, electronics, LED and solar photovoltaic (PV) system • Perform pre-installation/repair activities such as preparation of work area, structures for panel installation and so on • Install PV panels onto roof structure and non-roof structure • Follow standard procedure to connect the panels and fix solar LED lightings • Identify possible faults to rectify them • Use appropriate tools and equipment for installation/repair • Follow health and safety, emergencies, rescue and first- aid procedures • Implement correct interpersonal skills to interact with supervisors and colleagues

3. Install Solar PV and LED light SystemsTheory Duration (hh:mm) 30:00 Practical Duration (hh:mm) 50:00 Corresponding NOS Code ELE/N5905 • Use proper equipment to mark and measure the work area as per design • Execute the steps of installation of the required panel structures as per manufacturer’s instruction for roof top and non-roof top solar PV structures • Follow installation plan to install panels and secure them with structures • Perform the cable connection and secure them as per instructions • Perform LED light connections and check the functioning of final installed system • Use appropriate tools and follow safety guidelines while working • Perform post installation activities such as documentation, cleaning work area as per guidelines
4. Maintain and Repair Solar PV and LED Light Systems Theory Duration (hh:mm) 30:00 Practical Duration (hh:mm) 50:00 Corresponding NOS Code ELE/N5906 • Prepare a list of customer’s security coverage requirements as per needs communicated • Identify the work requirement from the concerned authority • Inspect the appropriateness of the tools and equipment required for the repair work • Perform routine maintenance of solar PV LED system such as cleaning of panels, checking cable connections, checking battery conditions and so on • Implement different photo voltaic panel fault finding methods to detect the faults and remove and replace faulty components carefully • List the issues identified in the work and report to responsible authority and seek advice • Implement appropriate method as per guidelines to rectify the fault or replacing the faulty module • Verify the functionalities of the components and the system after the repair work by performing basic tests • Use appropriate tools and follow safety guidelines while working • Perform post installation activities such as documentation, cleaning work area, returning tools and so on as per guidelines • Comply with environmental, architectural, structural, site and regulatory requirements
